Welcome to Toronto’s Jewish
COMMUNITY SUPPORTED AGRICULTURAL PROGRAM |
Torat Ha Teva in partnership with the First Naryever and Beth Radom Congregations are proud to present an inclusive, responsible, and kosher food program. For simplicity we have compartmentalized the services into three separate divisions to provide maximum flexibility and choice. Below you will find detailed information with regards to
- CSA Harvest Share Program - seasonal fruit and vegetable share options
- CSA Organic Meat products – kosher organic meat, fish, and fowl
- CSA Dry Goods - kosher organic bulk dry good
Please take the time to read and consider the options provided. Feel encouraged to participate in the entire program or merely an aspect that reflects your family values. We hope to appeal to all members of our community, forever striving for a healthier and tastier existence.
Torat Ha Teva is the The Jewish Nature Centre of Canada. Spiritually and ecologically sustainable Jewish living is a cornerstone of Tikun Olam. We provide vibrant and meaningful Jewish educational experiences that promote ecological awareness, build community ties, and encourage action towards global responsibility and stewardship.
CSA is a system that benefits everyone: The farmer gains a healthy, economically viable farm business, the consumer receives affordable, fresh, healthy organic food, the local economy is strengthened, and the local environment becomes healthier as CSAs cut down on transportation and packaging.
This year we will have the added advantage of utilizing our own Torat Ha Teva garden located at the new JCC Lebovic campus for great events linking Judaism, the agricultural process, and our environmental footprint.
Volunteers
To help maintain this vital link between farmer and share holder, we are asking for a few volunteers each week to help organize the produce, aid in the delivery of packages, and maintain the site. Please understand that a component of this program will be lending a minimal hand.
Tzedakah
A component of any Jewish initiative is the giving of tzedekah. Torat Ha Teva will bank donations above and beyond the cost of your share. Each week, the extra food will be donated to various organizations to help feed those who are hungry. Donating your vacation weeks is a wonderful way to give back to the community.
The Harvest Share Program
Please remember that you are responsible for transporting your own produce.
Organic, non-bleached, re-usable bags will be available at each location for $10.

Membership
A yearly membership fee of $25 is necessary to run the program. Please sign up and pay via Pay Pal on the Torat Ha Teva Website. Torat Ha Teva is a non-profit organization and any proceeds will be re-directed back into the program. Tiferet has been generous to offer us wholesale prices for their products. Torat Ha Teva is not inflating the prices in any fashion. Payment and order must be directed to Tiferet. Placing an Order
Once you are a member of the program, you may place an order by calling Tiferet directly at (514) 733-0547. Visit their website at www.tiferetorganic.com. Our first delivery is scheduled to arrive Thursday March 28 2008. Initially we are planning on maintaining a bi-weekly schedule. Depending on interest, this may accelerate to weekly delivery. This will be predicated purely on order volume. We require an overall $800 order (from our entire group) to ensure free delivery each time. All products will arrive from Tiferet frozen. We have acquired freezer space at the Beth Radom (and possibly Hillel House) to store our produce.
