B'nai Mitzvah

OUr Program

Private Lessons with Cantor Jeremy

We provide high-quality instruction to prepare your child for their special day. When a person reads from the Torah, they need to know what they are reading so we do not provide English transliterations of the Hebrew text nor do we encourage rote memorization from recordings. We do not expect students to understand everything that they read, but they must be able to decode the letters and words at a basic level to be able to engage in meaningful learning with Cantor Jeremy. If needed, we offer Hebrew proficiency classes for those who need to brush up their skills before starting their B'nai Mitzvah lessons.

Every student begins by meeting with Cantor Jeremy to get to know one another and to assess their Hebrew reading level, previous experience, and preferences that suit their personalities and learning style. Cantor Jeremy will then create an individualized learning plan that will be adapted as learning progresses.

Students love working with Cantor Jeremy - his curious nature is contagious, and students become deeply engaged in their learning while simultaneously soaking in the joy of Judaism that he exudes. With consistent practice and commitment, our B'nai Mitzvah students shine on their special day, showing both the learning and maturity required to call themselves Jewish adults. You will be proud, we promise!

Group Sessions at Sunday Morning Hebrew School

Becoming a B'nai Mitzvah is not just about the child, but about the community. Our program includes a Sunday morning program once/month in which students engage in group and individual tzedakah projects and work together to give back to the community.

For more information and to register for the program, please visit our Hebrew School page.
